Washington Family Scholarship Application

Family Short Bio History on Education:

The Washington Family Scholarship is a privately funded scholarship inspired by Roland Washington. Mr. Washington was a son of a slave. His family lead a life as sharecroppers on a plantation in Cowspen SC. Around the age of 9 he was forced to drop out of school to help his family. Mr. Washington taught himself mathematics, how to read, and write. He later instilled the importance of education in his 7 children. He taught his children and grandchildren; “if there is something in life you want you must work hard and stive to accomplish your goal”. Today the legacy of The Washington Family continues through entrepreneurship and the belief education is the foundation of life. The Washington Family wants to award the scholarship to students who are determined to continue their education and understands the importance of knowledge.
